A Research Fellow at the University of Portland, Michelle Harris is the US Coordinator for the Schools of Mass Destruction through the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN).
Harris earned her master’s of science in conflict resolution from Portland State University and is currently a second-year student working toward her doctorate of Education at the University of Portland.
Her master’s thesis project on the creation of a resource center for students impacted by incarceration was in turn funded by Portland State.
A frequent public speaker who has been personally impacted by the justice system, Harris has testified to state and federal representatives on matters including post incarceration education, restorative justice and practices within education, the community to prison pipeline, and student debt.
Her areas of focus are Restorative Practices in Education and Best Practices in Education. Since 2020, she has served as the Mini-Grant Program Co-Coordinator on the board of the PJSA.
